Sultan Jammeh Attacks Government
"The Gambia is a nation in need of help, and it’s high time for us, as citizens, to take a stand and work together to save our country. I’ve seen President Barrow urging Gambians abroad to invest in The Gambia, yet his government has made it difficult for many of us to do so.“
"The Gambia is a nation in need of help, and it’s high time for us, as citizens, to take a stand and work together to save our country. I’ve seen President Barrow urging Gambians abroad to invest in The Gambia, yet his government has made it difficult for many of us to do so.
I came to The Gambia with my partners from the US to invest significantly in the energy sector, following all the legal channels to get things moving. Unfortunately, the government has frustrated our efforts, doing everything it can to block our project. This only allows the privileged few to enjoy resources that rightfully belong to all Gambians.
Currently, Gambia is grappling with a low energy supply, which is incredibly disheartening. NAWEC can’t manage this alone. Had the government not obstructed our project, we would have been able to make a substantial difference in this challenging situation.
The reality is that they aren’t just blocking us; they are blocking the very Gambians who would benefit from the project, including job creation and access to energy. My partners and I live in the US with our families, earning what we’ve worked for. Without this project, we’ll continue to get by with Allah’s help. We’re prepared to take our project to another country with a responsible government, helping its people until Gambia has a leadership willing to collaborate for the nation’s prosperity.
I’m waiting for the right moment to share all the details that the public deserves to know. I’ll be naming names and institutions and detailing how they’re undermining our country."
